The Equine "Makeovers"

NOTE: As this page is very image intensive, it tends to run up our bandwidth limit very quickly. For this reason, I disable it whenever I have ponies for sale and there is a lot of traffic being directed to the website to look at what I have for sale. As I am not doing much advertising at the moment, I have temporarily reactivated this page with a few more inclusions since it was last online. Enjoy!

As we often get "rescue ponies" and ponies that are in rough paddock condition when we buy them, I like to compare their arrival photos to some that are taken after I have had them for a while.

Here's some of my favourite before and after shots:

Sophie was unwanted as she was arthritic. She was in poor condition when she arrived.
Within five months she improved condition dramatically and was later sold as a pet.

Storm wasn't a rescue, but he was in paddock condition when we got him.
With some hard feeding and rugging, he went on to become a successful show pony for us!

Bella was in paddock condition when we got her, and she was very timid and hard to catch.
Within a year she was successfully competing and can now be handled anywhere by anyone!

Barney was an off the track racehorse that was "too ugly to be used as a show horse".
I bought him, and with help from a young local rider, he went on to be a successful show hack.

Jay was in paddock condition and had been untouched for 12 months when I bought him.
Within two months he had a lovely glossy coat and was doing well at gymkhanas.

Rosie was a rescue that I bought from the sales. She was in very poor condition when I got her.
With a lot of feeding and handling, she gained condition and was eventually sold to a family as a pet.

Duke was our first born foal. These photos just show the difference that a clip makes!

Ember was our second foal. These photos just show the difference that a clip makes!

Cuda was another rescue from the sale yards. He was wild, scared and untouched when I got him.
People at the sale yards told me I was stupid for buying him and that he was too dangerous.
Within a month he trusted me and had learnt to tie and lead. He was later sold to be broken to harness.

Sally was a mess when she came to us, she was pushy and covered in bite marks from a stallion she was with.
With some regular grooming, a rug, and some good feed, she went on to become a lovely broodie & kid's pony.
